U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and Vermont Auditor Thomas Salmon to Speak at Tribute to World War II Veterans

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and State Auditor Thomas Salmon, a veteran himself, plan to address the World War II veterans and other guests who will gather at the "Salute to the Veterans of World War II" scheduled for this Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Derby.

The salute, which is hosted by Scott and Penny Wheeler of Derby and their family, along with the Elks Lodge in Derby, is a time to recognize the men and women who served their country during the war. The event is free and open to the public. WW II veterans are welcome to display and share their mementos of the war that helped shape their lives. People who worked for the war effort on the home front are also encouraged to bring their memories and mementos.

With this generation of Americans slowly disappearing hopes are that the community will turn out to thank them for their service.
